Library Facilities and Resources:
|
The
American School of Guadalajara houses the second largest English
language library in Mexico. The Library/Media Center is in two
separate facilities on campus: the Primary Media Center, which
serves Early Childhood through grade 5, and the Middle/High School
Media Center, which serves grades 6-12. |
|
The media centers
have a combined collection of more than 28,000 books in both English
and Spanish, 35 periodical titles, more than 1,200 videotapes,
audio cassettes, and CD-ROMs, as well as posters and maps, tape
recorders, overhead and digital projectors, televisions, VCRs and
video cameras for instructional use. |
|
Recently, the
Middle/High School Media Center has installed an 18 station computer
lab, and the Primary Media Center has acquired an 8 station computer
pod. Running the latest Windows XP operating system, the new computers
allow even greater opportunities to research information and create
multimedia projects and presentations. |
|
In addition,
the library catalogs are available on-line from the ASFG Library
Web Page, along with information about research, career and university
planning, helpful study links, and a section for teachers' professional
needs, all accessible from school or home. |
|
In collaboration
with teachers, the librarians work to promote a reading culture
on campus through story hours, book fairs, research and investigation,
and selection of materials to support and enrich the curriculum. |
